Missions

In Mathew 28:18-20, before his ascension, Jesus spoke to his disciples saying "All power is given unto me in Heaven and in earth.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo I am with you always, even unto the end of the world."  This commandment is called the Great Commission and is also recorded in the books of Mark, Luke, John and Acts.

We believe that fulfilling the Great Commission outside our local community is through church planting.  With church planting, an individual is sent out from a church to start a new church in another location where there is no church and teaches the member those things that Jesus taught his disciples.  Eventually the church planter or missionary turns the church over to local leadership and moves to another area to repeat the process.  Our missions program is designed to financially and prayerfully help the church planter/missionary

The church planter/missionary is different from that of a pastor.  The pastor will stay at a church a long time training and encouraging men from his congregation to be either a missionary or a pastor, fulfilling the Great Commission.
